Need to sale! 2003 Appaloosa mare. Was born bay but has changed color over the years. The Silver gene has caused her to have a silver tent. refer to AQHA article about the silver gene Nice colorful blanket with spots, flax mane and tail. 15 maybe 15.1hands. Up to date on all shots, deworming and hoof care. Sierra loads, clips, bathes, stands patiently for farrier, great with vet and ground ties. Easy to catch, loves treats and attention! She has been through Clinton Anderson's Fundamentals program. Knows how to lounge, send, yield, change direction, approach and retreat, backing and lounging for respect. She will stand quietly to be saddled and mounted. Waits for her cue to move. Flexes and breaks at the poll well. She works the trot and canter very well. Has a nice extended trot for the events that may need more movement and extension or will slow down and do a more refined trot. . Bends smoothly in the circle pattern both ways and works out nicely. Her canter is wonderful on the straight-aways and pretty good in circles but needs work maintaining the pattern without dropping in. She will side pass, two track and backs very easily off seat and voice cues. Works well off leg cues. She also has speed if needed and loves to stretch out! Sierra has had extensive desensitizing work with tarps, bags, balls, rain slickers, silly string, sacks and about anything that could be used! Many miles on the trails! Drops her head and goes on. Will lead or follow. Great trail manners and will go anywhere. She rides alone or with a group. No buddy sour issues! That's a plus! Started on and exposed to obstacle courses and extreme cowboy races. She will jump ditches, jumps, tires, barrels and about anything when asked. Crosses water, bridges and ditches. On the course she will go through the car wash/cowboy curtain, over bridges, teeter totters and more! Refer to photos. She has a spirited temperament but is controllable and well managed. She is very athletic and likes things where she can be put to work or use. Her athletic abilities could be put to use in many directions barrels, working cow, team penning. Seems to have pretty good cow sense, likes to track and herd them. Sierra is very intelligent and very nosy. She has to investigate everything and see whats going on! She will test the riders ability and respect. Once she knows she is to respect you, she will fallow you anywhere and understands the respect your space thing. She needs clear boundaries with a confident rider. She don't mind cats and dogs being around her in the barn, but she will control the critters that enter her pasture or territory. She is not aggressive towards them, just gets them out of her domain. She has been ridden English and western, does not show a preference or do better with one than the other. Has a nice carriage for either and could be shown in any direction. Rides in a snaffle, currently using twisted snaffle. Never been rode with a shank or port, never really had need to use one. Sierra originally came from Kentucky. In 2006 she has 30 days with Vance Dart in Illinois. Was mostly used for trails after getting her start under saddle. She also had work on gait consistency walk, trot and canter. In 2010-2011 she had one year pro training at Spring Haven Stables in Albertville Al. Her training included: Natural Horsemanship, round penning, lounging under saddle. She was ridden 5 days a week and worked on the following from the ground and under saddle: maintaining gait, bending and the poll and flexing, turning on haunches or forehand from, speed control, worked on and over obstacles, side passing, started on two tracking, trotting pols and cavellettis, backing straight, L-backs and zig-zag patterns. She was also exposed to noises, traffic, tractors, other farm equipment, tools and all sorts of crazy noises. SHOW HISTORY / EVENTS and CLINICS: Fun show at Chalakee entered 4 classes. Placed in top 5 in all entered! Novice dressage, walk Trot, Walk trot over poles and hunt seat. Participated in the Equine Affair Grand Opening at Spring Haven Stables. Done very well in the trail portion of this class! AOC 2012: Schooled at the first show @ Spring Haven Stables. Competed at Chalakee Ranch for the April show in novice adult and adult trails. Was schooled at the 3rd show at La Trecera, South of Birmingham Al, just for exposure and experience. Was also schooled over obstacles at the AOC fall series on Oct 20 @ Chalakee Ranch. Sierra is not a beginners horse or for the inexperienced. She needs a confident rider, firm and in control but not overbearing. |
