I bought this saddle a long while back while in Texas and paid over a $1,000 for it. It's all hand carved w/ a dark oil stain. The off billet, cantle, and stirrups are carved also to match the motif of the rest of the saddle. The quality of the leather is apparent w/ rich, warm, sounds that only quality leather makes when it moves. The seat is brushed leather suede and provides a solid, positive grip when seated. The saddle was made in Texas over 30 years ago by Texas-West and is numbered 53.
The fleece is unbroken on the underside and is barely dirty. This saddle rides extremely well and has saw little use do to being one size to small for me. The saddle seat is a 15 and as far as I remember it was made for trail although the cantle and the seats dishing are rather tall making it a possible barrel saddle also possibly.
