OFF TO CAMP - WHAT FUN!!!

You will make lasting memories exploring and playing in the natural beauty that surrounds The Ponderosa Dude Ranch.

The ranch is a beautiful, pristine 20 acre property, bordered by the Withlacoochee State Forest - Croom Tract. The Withlacoochee River runs through the forest. This environment offers 23,000 acres of land to explore, ride horses, hike, fish, swim, canoe, kayak and just enjoy nature.

Declared as one of the "10 Coolest Places in North America" by the World Wildlife Fund, the Withlacoochee State Forest has numerous outdoor recreational opportunities available for everyone. Among the recreational amenities that make this state forest so popular are the horse and hiking trails in the Croom Tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest. The horse trails in this area are dry-to-damp, all weather trails that wind through central Floridas longleaf pine and scrub oak hills, live oak thickets and hardwood hammocks, past creek bottoms and cypress ponds. Of particular interest are the areas ravines, prairies and abandoned rock mines. Wildlife found in the area include deer, quail, grey squirrels and bobcats plus many more species.

Spend your summer, spring or winter break with us and have a load of laughs doing it. We are truly fortunate to be surrounded by a multitude of forests, parks and recreation areas. We will explore these areas and all that they have to offer.

We are a boys only camp. Most of our programs are for boys aged 6-13, but we do have some offering for older boys such as our Stingrays Aquatic Sessions that include a PADI SCUBA Open Water Cerification program for boys 12-15. We also offer a Leader in Training program for boys who are 15 or 16 and a Junior Counselor Program for boys who are 17.

Activities abound each day. At camp you will experience a variety of activities. We are a free choice camp. You choose the activities you want to participate in each day. And there are lots of choices. Some of the activities you will have to choose from are:

- Soft Tipped Darts - Ladder Ball - Arts & Crafts - Cup & Bucket Races - Hiking - Fishing
- Canoeing / Kayaking - Tubing - Flag Football - Bicycling - Water Balloon Fights - Volleyball - Painting - Water Gun Showdowns - Horseshoes - Drawing - Ropes Course - Snorkeling - Running - Physical Fitness - Soccer - Acting - Team Building - Cooperative Game Time - PLUS LOTS, LOTS, MORE..... We even offer a SCUBA Certification program for campers 12 and up.

Many days end with a campfire cookout. You'd be amazed what can be cooked on the campfire. Pretty much anything you can cook on a stove or in an oven can be cooked on the campfire.
