Equitation refers to a rider's position and form while mounted and encompasses a rider's ability to ride correctly and with effective aids. It is the rider, not the horse, that is evaluated for this category during a horse show competition. Equitation classes occur in the Hunt seat, Saddle seat, Dressage, and Western disciplines.
